At Home in Ourselves

A Mind-Body Workshop for Shell Alumni

Hosted Virtually by

Shell Alumni Association of Greater Houston

The Institute for Spirituality and Health

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing anxiety in many areas of our lives, from the health and wellbeing of ourselves and our loved ones, to the isolation and “stuckness” of social distancing, and the disruption of our daily lives and the activities that bring us joy.

Mind-Body Skills enable us to work directly with our psychophysiology to reduce stress and restore balance to the body and mind.  These evidence-based techniques, including deep breathing, movement exercises, dialogue writing, autogenic training, and guided imagery, among others, help us become more aware of ourselves physically and emotionally, and learn to manage and improve our own health. Practicing these skills can help us feel comfortably “at home” in ourselves amidst the challenges and limitations of our current condition.

In this Mind-Body Skills Workshop, led by certified mind-body skills facilitator Dr. Manizeh Mirza-Gruber, SAAGH members will learn the physiology of the mind-body connection and practice several evidence-based skills that reduce stress and anxiety and support health and vitality in mind, body, and spirit.
